Dear Mr. Lukashevsky,
I understand with concern that Sakharov Center in Moscow is again under scrutiny by the Russian authorities.
Sakharov Center is a museum of international reputation dedicated to the memory and the intellectual legacy of the late Andrey Sakharov. Academician Sakharov was a theoretical physicist of international fame and a Russian patriot. Apart from his professional work he contributed substantially to the process of democratization of the Russian Federation after the end of the Soviet Union.
I wish to express the high appreciation of the intellectual work of the Center and do not perceive it as a political organisation but rather as a group of scientists and historians who work in the field of history of sciences and its societal role during the second half of the 20th century.
I express our conviction that the investigating authorities will come to the same conclusion.
Sincerely,
Helga Metzner, Petra Morawe, Dr. Peter Lonaub, Gabriele von Arnim, Reinhard Weibhuhu, Sybille Volkholz, Ilko-Sasha Kowalczuk, Gabriele & Rene Hill, Gerd Poppe
